CHAPTER DINNER NIGHT-

is the 2nd Saturday of the month of August, served from 5:00 - 7:30. August's  dinner is  a Crabcake & Soft Shell Crab Combo.  .  Dinner is just $10.00.  Following the dinner, you can enjoy a family movie!

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT:

In conjunction with the Chapter's Dinner night, a family rated movie will be shown, starting at 7 pm. There is no cost for the movie. So come in for a home cooked meal by our Women of the Moose and enjoy a movie with the family!

August's movie is Alice in Wonderland  starring Johnny Depp!

The Lodge and Chapter have a variety of activities scheduled each month. We need your help in making these activities a success. This does not mean you have to work for hours in the kitchen, but if you can you won't be turned away!!!  It may mean donating a cake or salad, stuff envelopes, help supervise a kid's activity, donate an unwanted item for a raffle, or the easiest of all- come out and take advantage of the fun at the activity!!!  It is you whom these activities are scheduled for. Where else can you go that an activity is arranged with you and not the general public in mind?  Come make the most of it!!!

Condolences to Brian Holland on the loss of his mother.

Condolences to the Cambridge Chapter of WOTM on the loss of their Senior Regent, Jean Foster.

Women of The Moose News:

MESSAGE FROM OUR SENIOR REGENT:

The chapter is working hard at conducting fundraisers to meet our obligations to MooseHeart and Moosehaven.

We would like to thank Rose, Linda, Ellen, and Thelma for their generous donations to our Friday night raffles.

Many of your Chapter and Lodge officers will be attending the upcoming Annual MD-DE-DC Association Convention scheduled for the last weekend of August, therefore our Chapter dinner has been moved to the 2nd Saturday this month only. This also includes the Family movie that I have been showing following the Chapter dinner.  Despite the schedule change, it will be well worth coming to dinner at the Lodge on August 14th. We will be having a crab cake & soft crab combo, followed by Alice in Wonderland.

We have two fundraising raffle ticket sales going on right now. The first one is for a ‘Bud Lite’ Adirondack chair complete with cup holders in both arms- it’s a great chair to sit out under the shade tree and watch the sunset with a cold drink (even ice tea will work) in each cup holder! This raffle will be drawn on Saturday, July 31st.  Chances are $1 each or 6 for $5.

The second raffle is for a MINI-CHOPPER! The mini-chopper was graciously donated by Johnny ‘Lightning’.  This raffle will not be drawn until December 9th, but that’s just in time for Christmas, what a great present that could make!  The bike has a 49cc engine.  Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $12.  There are already a few members who have their eyes on winning this cool bike. Both the bike and the chair are on display in the Lodge and there are tickets available at the bar, see your Chapter officers, Ellen, Dottie or me for tickets.

We can always use volunteers in the kitchen on Chapter dinner night. If you have a specialty or a special request for the menu, please, let me know or come to the meetings and let us know.

Looking for a quiet and cool activity to do with your kids, come to Family Movie Nite. I have a bunch of Disney movies. If you have a favorite you’d like to see, let me know. If I have it or can get it for the next month, I will.

We will be holding our Quartermania bingo on Monday, August 23rd at 6 pm. Come on out and support your Chapter and may be win some money without all the confusion of the various ‘special’ games. Just plain and simple bingo.

We would like to welcome our new and ‘returning’ members: Linda Adkins, Stacy Reid, Kathy Wolfe, Laraine Gajewski and Tammy Provost.

I am looking for suggestions on meeting nights and times that would afford everyone the opportunity to participate in our Chapter meetings and having your voices heard.  Please call me and give me some feedback at 410-968-1667.

Keeping Mooseheart and Moosehaven in my thoughts and prayers,

                             Barbara Gregory,

                             Senior Regent pro tem

RECORDER'S MESSAGE:

I would just like to remind everyone about paying their dues. I will be glad to renew their memberships on line if they would like to stop by. If you would like to renew your membership online yourself and are either unsure how to do it, or don’t have internet access, just call and Barb will show you how to do so at the lodge.

I pray everybody will have a wonderfully blessed August.

                              Ellen Dorsey, Recorder
